Though we call them Pansies, they are anything but fragile. One of the toughest flowers, Pansies are perfect in a cold climate or warm. They come packed with history, folklore, symbolism and beauty.
Pansies are derived from viola species.
Color influences the message. Blue means Ill always be true, faithful and watchful, whereas white means lets take a chance.
Several states and cities have chosen the violet or pansy to represent them. The common blue violet is the state flower of Rhode Island, Illinois and New Jersey, while Wisconsin chose the wood violet. Osaka, Japan has the pansy as its chosen city flower.
